Well Greece and Alykes in particular are moving with the times! They have set up aerials throughout the resort to create a system for FREE WiFi Internet. Courtesy of the local dhmos (municpality, council) of Alykes, all visitors to Alykes will be able to access the internet for free. That means in todays age of modern technology, mini laptops, mobile phones etc people will be able to keep in touch with family or upto date with emails etc for FREE!!!!
The system is in its final stages of completion and should be ready by christmas.

EASYJET FLIGHTS TO ZAKYNTHOS

Well it seems that we may be closer to getting what we are all waiting for.........EasyJet flights to Zakynthos. The officials had a meeting last night and have agreed terms for 3 flights per week to Zante from London starting in April through to October. This means tourist will have the chance to visit the island at Easter as well as the usual summer months. Although the contract has not been completed as yet it seems that this will just be a formality so keep checking back for the latest updates.

Slowing down for the Winter

Things have slowed down now in Alykes with most places now closed up for the winter months! It is probably easier for me to list the places still open than those closed!! So still open is Relax, Onar, Olympic, Ponderosa, Spikeys Place and i am pretty sure that is it!!! In Alykanas still a few places open restaurant wise and I know that Alykanas Beach Village still has tourists up until the end of October.
Other than that very very quiet everywhere!

WEATHER AND UPDATE

Hi All, been away for a while as had an unfortunate accident and my ankle has been in plaster!!! Anyway the weather in Alykes has gone very hot again, we have been experiencing high temps for October with the last few days all being sunny and reaching 27 degrees!! Its very cool at night time though once the sun has gone down.

AUTUMN IS HERE

Well Autumn has definitely arrived in Alykes. The mornings are a lot cooler around 17 degrees at 8 o'clock. Still warm around midday with the temp getting up to 26 yesterday and then dropping sharply in the evenings. As I got up this morning it was raining but the sun is out again as so often happens here in Zakynthos. You can all keep up to date now with our forecast on Alykes.com, just follow the link

Businesses in Alykes are slowing down now, some have even closed for the season but if its anything like last year there will be some businesses that will continue to stay open all year round! Will update you soon.
